Lakota Secession Info

Lakota Freedom Delegation

Here's the official website.

The questions that remain unanswered (some of them, anyway):

1. Do these people actually represent the Lakota Government?

2. Is their legal claim sound? When will an independent legal analyst weigh in on this?

3. Do Lakota have any legal relationships with the US government that this act will affect? IE, do they normally pay taxes and will this put them in the Tax Avoider camp and subject them to legal action? Do the impoverished people of the Lakota Nation draw on government assistance and will this act put that assistance in jeopardy?

4. How many libertarians living in the territory, near the territory, or anywhere else in the country, will take up the Lakota on their offer (even if none of the above questions are resolved)?

5. Can they put Liens on all of that property? And if they do, even if it ultimately doesn't work in court, how much of a pain in the ass will this cause people trying to buy or sell land in the territory? What legal support do they have that can carry this plan out? What will this do to real estate in the region?

6. Will this plan just crash against the rock of the US, disintegrate and never get mentioned again, making all of these questions moot?
