The Fifth Annual Poor Mojo's Bonanza Winner

Dear and Dedicated Readers,

Each year, as the 50th issue of the year is published upon our fair and wondrous Almanac(k), we just and righteous Editors randomly select one piece from the previous year's issues to receive the Poor Mojo's Bonanza. This Bonanza is the most special gift three men and a Giant Squid can offer any writer:

$100, cash money in U.S. funds.

Yes, once a year we randomly select one piece from the most recent 50 issues and give that author $100. This is our small and inconsequential manner of saying: "While all of our authors are fantastic, some are both fantastic and lucky."

This year's winner and recipient of the Fifth Annual Poor Mojo's Bonanza (for issues #300-#350) is Julie Ann Shapiro for her "Elephants and Elvis."

Congratulations -- and one crisp, new C-note -- do go to Ms. Shapiro on this Day of Days! Huzzah!

In Joy and Magnanimity, I Remain,
Your Giant Squid
